Easter and my birthday.

We had so much fun this Easter.  Leah and Brayden are at that special age where it's so magical to see them.  We started out the morning with our Resurrection pancakes...  They were chocolate chip pancakes, which they've never had... so we named them something special.  We were greeted for church at Grandpa and Grandma's house with a mini Easter egg hunt, and baskets full of goodies and books.  The kids went nuts.  Leah had her first real sucker, and Brayden enjoyed his new ball and cars.  Leah was thrilled with all of her tattoos and stickers.

After church the kids went down for a nap.  Leah decided she didn't want to take a nap, which is becoming increasingly more common.  She was over the top excited to do an Easter egg hunt with Brayden and her cousin, Aubrey.  She really couldn't talk about anything other than that hunt.  We recently heard a really cute reason why we do an Easter egg hunt.. and we decided that's why we're going to do them too... "An egg is a sign of new life, like when a chick comes from an egg.  We were put on this earth to search for a new life with Jesus, so an Easter egg hunt is just symbolizing our search for our new life with the Lord."  Leah liked the definition as well, and although she doesn't understand the sacrifice, she knows how much He loves us.

The egg hunt was better than I could have imagined.. Brayden shocked us all and got just as many eggs as Aubrey.  He was grabbing eggs left and right and throwing them in his bucket.  It was so cute to see how excited he would get.  Leah had to empty her basket into a big bag so she could keep going.  She wasn't playing around... she got a ton of eggs.

After the egg hunt, we had dinner, then cake and ice cream (which I wasn't expecting at all!) to celebrate my birthday which was yesterday.  It was so much fun to watch the kids.  They had so much fun.  Uncle Bryan and Aunt Cassie made it extra special for them, and we cannot thank them enough.
